An access log contains a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while exploring your Internet site. The list is detailed, so if you have a page with 2 embedded images, for instance, all of the three files will be in the log, not just the page. An access log normally contains the date, the Operating System, the web browser and the IP address for every file in human-readable form, so you can get a good idea about the hottest files on your Internet site. The log, that is also frequently named "raw data", is an addition to the web data you usually get with a hosting account, not a substitute. One example why you may require such a log is if you want to use some software on your PC to prepare a report about the website’s efficiency, but you do not want to use the conventional graphs and tables that come with the server-generated website statistics.

Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your shared hosting account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to every domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you shall see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with just a mouse click from the exact same section of the Control Panel. You shall still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.
